Your guide, CHIATEH KINGKOH Godlove – known by his friends as Castro – was born into the family of Nontock Chifon Teeh and Chiateh Alfred (now Fai Ngum Chiae), both notables to the palace of Oku. He is a holder of a First School leaving Certificate, General Certificate of Education Ordinary and Advance Level. He also obtained a First Degree and Maitrise in Laws and Political Sciences from the Faculty of Laws and Political Sciences at Cameroon’s own University of Dschang.
In 2008, Godlove completed professional studies in Tourism Guiding and Management from the Cameroon Support and Placement Services and the National Employment Fund of Cameroon, from which he emerged in the first rank as a Tourism Guide, Officer and Promoter. He is the Founder of the Tourism Promoters Common Initiative Group (PROTOUR CIG) in Limbe, Cameroon. In 2009, he obtained a diploma in Business Skills and Development from the American Peace Corps and later the same year obtained a certificate of achievement from the Limbe Wildlife Center as an Environmentalist and Conservator

Arrival and checkin formalities in one of our hotels.
After breakfast, visit the tourism office for registration. Visit the palace and guided tour round the palace. Have an encounter with His Royal Majesty the Fon of Oku and take palace water for blessings. After noon visit to the local market and launch at a local restaurant. Visit also some traditional homes of native doctors, soothsayer, and some shrines.
A pleasure trip to the famous lake Oku called “Mawes”. Visit the National Plant Life Sanctuary that surrounds the lake. Enjoy the scenery, plants, birds and the landscape around the lake. Be told about the myth of creation of lake Oku and its attachment and influence to the life of an Oku man. On our way back, a brief stop at the village of Jikejem, visit the Tolon waterfalls and the cave where the god of Tolon live.
A safari hiking to mount Kilum of 3,011m, the second height in west Africa after mount Cameroon. We will be passing through the rain forest. Enjoy endemic birds’ species like the Bannerman’s Turaco, Banded Wattled Eye, Black-crown Waxbill, plants and Indian Bamboo forest. The savanna at the summit mostly covered with mbak kilum - Achemilla Fischeri and Black jack - Bidens Pilosa.
A day of culture. Visit some elders, notables, craft shops, museums and a traditional dance.Afternoon departure and end of trip.
AN ITINERARY FOR A BRIEF STAY IN OKU TOURIST VILLAGE.
Arrive and check in to Hotel. Receive a briefing and stay overnight.
Visit the Oku Fon’s Palace and the Palace Museum. Have a view of antiquities and Oku tradition. Visit the residential area of His Royal Majesty’s 50 wives and 350 children. Visit the compounds of the first and second class of Oku. Have a taste of our traditional dish of corn fufu (from maize flour) and jamajama (vegetables) and katikati (chicken).
After breakfast, drive to Lake Oku. On the way, visit the community of Jikejem and learn about their cultural attachment to the lake. View the landscape, visit to the National Plant Life Sanctuary, with its numerous and endemic plants species (including medicinal plants), birds and animals. Swim at the lake and camp overnight.
Continue to enjoy Lake Oku, and then return to Elak town. Relax, visit the local market and enjoy some free time.
A day for culture. Visit the market, some traditional homes and village elders. Experience traditional gatherings, meals, dance, a native doctor’s display and magic.
Visit Oku’s caves and waterfalls while enjoying the scenery and beauty of nature. Take panoramic photos and have a picnic.
Go on a breathtaking hike up Mount Kilum. Hike through the rain forest. View a variety of plants, birds and animals. Arrive at the summit; camp.

Relax and enjoy your own program, or visit some homes, carving studios and snack halls.
Visit museums, carving centers, craft shops, Honey center, Craft Paper Industry, OACU, Oku Community Radio Station, or Oku Handcraft Center. If you choose, find some souvenirs to take back home.
Visit some shrines, traditional healers, soothsayers, have a view of some Oku rituals and appeasement of the gods.
Visit the last home of interest, the Palace of Oku, to drink “palace water.” Bid farewell to Oku.
